About the project

Digital Supply Chain for On-Site Maintenance in defence by Additive Manufacturing
DISCMAM is a European Defence Fund (EDF 2022) project funded by the European Commission that aims to shape the future of defence in logistics.
Ambition of DISCMAM

Nowadays, defence operations face significant downtimes due to maintenance requirements of equipment, vehicles, and other critical assets, heavily relying on repair and spare parts supply. The DISCMAM project seeks to enable rapid response in manufacturing metal spare parts and repairing critical components, regardless of the operational location.
Aim
Through innovative technologies not used before in the European Defence sector, DISCMAM seeks to revolutionize the capabilities of deployed defence forces and facilitate remote assistance for repair and spare parts manufacturing in defence field operations needed in land, air and naval systems.
The consortium aims to establish a secure digital thread for remote assistance in defence field operations.
Identifying on-site maintenance scenarios.
Ensuring the protection of intellectual property.
Ensuring cyber-secure data management, storage and sharing (digital thread).
Implementing systems for monitoring AM processes (hardware, software).
Developing innovative processes for digitisation of the parts to be manufactured.

Accelerating on-site manufacturing processes, based on virtualisation, planning and optimisation of deposition trajectories and laser scan strategies.
Demonstrating the technology or prototype in a relevant environment. Integration in a mobile solution concept.
