Transforming defence logistics with on-site metal additive manufacturing innovation
Digital Supply Chain for On-Site Maintenance by Additive Manufacturing
The DISCMAM project is a European Defence Fund (EDF) project, funded by the European Commission (EC). The goal of the project is to advance and accelerate the use of on-site metal additive manufacturing solutions for defence field operations.
This will be achieved through the development of a secure digital thread to enable data storage and transfer for the repair and manufacture of spare parts, for remote assistance to the field. Furthermore, the project consortium will work on (digital) solutions to enhance robustness and optimise processes on-site.
DISCMAM Solution
The project will set the basis for a new business model towards remote assisted on-site maintenance operations:
No need for highly specialised metal AM (Additive Manufacturing) operators on-site.
Reduce supply time, shortage, and cost of spare parts.
Optimisation of on-site stocks, reducing inventory and obsolescence of components.
Autonomy to repair or replace damaged components and manufacture spare parts by secure communication pathways for remote assistance.
Increase readiness of defence equipment, vehicles, or any other necessary defence operation elements.
DISCMAM Partners
The project consortium brings together 10 partners from 5 European countries (Spain, Denmark, Netherlands, Norway and France).
