- DISCMAM partners (LORTEK, Fieldmade, DTI, Optimus3D and Euler) proposed a dedicated workshop focused on the project’s solution, including a live on-site demonstration.
The DISCMAM Project took part in the first Preparatory Meeting for AM Village 2026, held from 21st to 23rd October 2025 in Albacete, Spain. Hosted by the Spain Air Force and organised by EDA. Following its successful participation in the 2024 edition, the project joined representatives from industry (Fieldmade, Optimus3D and Euler) and research institutions (LORTEK and DTI) to contribute ideas and prepare the groundwork for the upcoming AM Village 2026. During the event, interactions and rounds of networking took place with other companies and research centers that will join DISCMAM proposal.
Shaping the AM Village agenda with DISCMAM
Over three days, the meeting brought together experts and stakeholders from across Europe to align efforts and define priorities for the next edition.
The first day featured an introduction to the objectives of AM Village 2026, an overview of ongoing national additive manufacturing (AM) initiatives, and a discussion round on emerging military use cases.
On the second day, discussions focused on industry and academia capability briefings, technical sessions, and the initial drafting of the 2026 workshop agenda. During these sessions, the DISCMAM partners presented their proposal for a dedicated workshop that would highlight the project’s latest advances, including a live on-site demonstration of the DISCMAM solution and its capabilities.
The proposal also considered opportunities for technical briefings and direct interaction with the armed forces, enabling dialogue with various European Ministries of Defence (MODs) about the project’s ongoing applications in the military domain. The initiative received very positive feedback from participants, reflecting strong interest in the project’s contributions.
The meeting concluded on October 23rd, 2025, with a visit to the Albacete Air Base, the future site and main venue of AM Village 2026, followed by the official closure of the preparatory event.

AM Village 2026: What’s ahead?
The 3rd AM Village Workshop will take place from 16 to 20 March 2026 at the Albacete Air Base, organised jointly by the European Defence Agency (EDA) and the Spanish Air and Space Force.
The main objectives of this edition are to:
- Identify military use cases where additive manufacturing can provide efficient and scalable solutions.
- Strengthen cooperation between industry, academia, and defence stakeholders.
- Showcase live demonstrations of cutting-edge AM technologies — from rapid repairs and 3D scanning to full-scale manufacturing capability demonstrations.
With more than 600 participants expected, AM Village 2026 will offer a unique setting to explore how additive manufacturing can reshape defence logistics and operational readiness across Europe.
This first preparatory meeting has set the foundation for a successful edition, reinforcing collaboration and shaping use cases that demonstrate the transformative potential of AM technologies in the defence sector.
